Durante il mio viaggio in Australia (2011) ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere molte persone davvero carine e ospitali: è una cosa importante potersi sentire a casa e potersi confrontare con chi questa terra la abita ma ha una grande curiosità di conoscere tradizioni e usi di Paesi per loro tanto affascinati quanto lontani! Tra questi, un legame particolare l’ho stretto con la famiglia Jamieson. John il capo famiglia, Joanne sua moglie conosciuti durante il viaggio e poi Sarah e Brett, i loro figli (incontrati qualche tempo dopo in Italia!).
Proprio con Sarah (http://catseyebay.com) vorrei cominciare a portare la ‘voce’ di un local quindi di chi vive i luoghi che ho visitato, per poter ‘andare oltre’ e avere un’esperienza autentica.
Ho deciso che lascerò anche la loro versione originale di ‘tips’ (in inglese) perché ritengo che in questo modo ci si possa sentire anche noi un po’ più ‘aussie’ !!

A quiet and thoughtful Sydney can be found at Bulletin Place. It is an intimate bar in a lane just behind the Circular Quay ferry dock. The bar tender sources the best market produce daily, and mixes seasonal cocktails in a sultry but down-to-earth atmosphere.

Head to Opera Bar to meet a loud and sexy Sydney. This sprawling outdoor bar hugs the harbour wall the runs alongside the Opera House. Party music, big crowds, salt air and an in-your-face harbour view.

Swimming is an important part of Sydney life. This saltwater pool is perched on the Southern tip of Bondi Beach. For Bondi locals, a swim here is a daily ritual. Take your swimming costume and goggles, jump into the salt water and then dry off in the glass fronted sauna whilst watching the rolling sea. Then have a coconut juice and coffee The Crabbe Hole, a cute cafe on the pool deck.

Restaurant

This is Sydney food now. Seasonal produce, wood fired cooking, shared plates. Order the set menu and your table will be filled with dishes calamari, broad beans and pickled zucchini flowers or perhaps bone marrow, chilli sambal and toast. The open kitchen looks into the sophisticated dining room creating a welcoming vibe.

Dato che questo Paese è piuttosto lontano da noi (partendo da Milano, in andata, via Londra abbiamo fatto scalo a Hong Kong mentre al ritorno siamo passati via Brisbane da Singapore), quando ci andrete vi consiglio di soggiornarci per un minimo di 3 settimane in modo da riuscire a vedere il più possibile!
Le grandi distanze non aiutano molto i viaggiatori ma i buoni collegamenti interni offrono numerose possibilità.
Le cosa da fare e da vedere sono veramente un’infinità per cui, senza la presunzione di essere esaustivo (impossibile) di seguito mi limito a darvi giusto qualche idea anche su alcuni altri posti davvero unici che ho visitato e vi rimando alle mie recensioni fatte ‘a caldo’ poco dopo essere rientrati in Italia!
